72° Heating and Cooling, Inc. opened its doors in the fall of 1992 with the vision of establishing itself as “The Home Comfort Company” in Ankeny and the Des Moines Metro area. “Seventy-Two Degrees,” what an unusual name, you say? The name was inspired by a relative who wanted to retire to San Diego because he believed it had the most ideal, comfortable weather with an average daily temperature of, you guessed it...72°!

There were only five employees when the first heating and cooling shop opened on East First Street. By 1995 it outgrew its original location and moved to its current home on Ordnance Road. With nearly triple the employees these days, the red, white, and black trucks are constantly on the go. The vision of “The Home Comfort Company” has expanded to encompass a mission to offer customers “A Greater Degree of Comfort” through knowledgeable people, quality products, innovative ideas, and superior service.

72 Degrees’ Signature Service includes both planned maintenance and demand repair service for residential and commercial customers. Over the years the number of clients “On the M.A.P.” (Maintenance Agreement Package) has grown to almost 900 annually.

Residential replacement and renovation is provided to clients needing new comfort equipment. Custom residential new construction as well as commercial sales and service make up a small, but healthy and steadily growing portion of business for 72 Degrees. Featured products include high efficiency residential heating and cooling equipment, geo thermal systems, gas fireplaces, humidifiers, air filtration & purification systems, central vacuum systems and in-floor radiant heating.

Technical tools developed by Department of Energy scientists have been added, combined with an extensive commitment to training, to better solve customer discomfort issues through the “Whole House Check Up”.
