HVAC Myth vs. Fact

Today we will be debunking some common myths that we hear. If you have ever fallen victim to one of these myths, don’t sweat it. 72 Degrees is here to help! With so many sources of information and varying options when it comes to heating and cooling your home, it can be hard to separate fact from fiction.

Myth: You only have to change your filter once a year.

Busted! A dirty filter will clog your system and restrict airflow. Make sure to check your filter every month and clean or change your filter every couple of months to prevent any damage to your system.

Myth: The bigger the system, the better.

Busted! If you get a system that is too large for your space, it will keep cycling on and off. This will end up costing you more money and put unnecessary wear and tear on your system that ends up shortening the lifespan.

Myth: Close the vents in empty rooms to increase the airflow in other parts of your home.

Busted! Closing the vents only increases the pressure in your air ducts which can lead to leaks and weaker airflow than before.
